Drainforce Nationwide Safety Stand Down

Reinforcing Our Safety Culture Across All Regions

Drainforce recently conducted a nationwide Safety Stand Down involving all operational teams across the business. The purpose of the initiative was to reinforce our commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing while ensuring full re-familiarisation with our procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.

Given the high-risk environments in which we operate — including confined space entry, high-pressure water jetting, UV lining, flow control, and traffic management — maintaining rigorous safety standards is fundamental to protecting our people, clients, and the public.

Key Objectives of the Stand Down

The day focused on:

  • Reviewing core Health & Safety procedures
  • Revalidating understanding of task-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • Reinforcing Safe Systems of Work
  • Encouraging open discussion around site-based risks and control measures

To ensure meaningful engagement, teams participated in an open-book knowledge assessment, enabling operatives to reference procedures while demonstrating understanding in a supportive environment. This approach reinforced practical competence rather than simple recall, ensuring teams can confidently apply controls in real-world situations.

Leadershift Commitment

David Evans, Managing Director of Drainforce, commented:

“Safety is not a policy document — it is a behaviour and a culture. Our nationwide stand down demonstrates that we are prepared to pause delivery in order to reinforce the fundamentals. Every member of our team must feel confident in their understanding of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
These sessions are about strengthening our culture, listening to our workforce, and continuously improving how we operate. Our commitment is simple: everyone goes home safe.”

Our Ongoing Commitment

At Drainforce, safety is embedded into planning, supervision, and operational delivery. Events such as this Safety Stand Down form part of our broader strategy to:

  • Maintain industry-leading safety standards
  • Promote proactive hazard identification
  • Encourage workforce ownership of risk
  • Drive continuous improvement across all contracts

We remain committed to supporting our clients’ health and safety objectives and delivering works safely, responsibly, and professionally across all regions.
