How to unblock a toilet with hot water:
A simple way to remove partial blockages.
- Ensure water level is low (remove excess water if necessary.)
- Pour hot water into the toilet bowl
- The heat dissolves fat or grease build up whilst the wter pressure can help remove a blockage
- Adding a small amount of washing up liquid can also help remove the blockage.

Close the water supply to the cistern so it does not refill.

Manually remove the stagnant water.
ButtonStep 3
Lubricate the waste outlet by pouring a small amount of washing-up liquid (less than half a glass) into the toilet bowl.
Leave for 10 minutes.

Pour 2 to 3 litres of very hot, but not boiling, water into the toilet bowl.
Wait to see if water levels fall.
Repeat a second time if first attempt is unsuccessful, provided there is room for more water in the toilet bowl.
If still no success, try a plunger.
